About

Born in the midwest surrounded by fresh water, beautiful rivers and open lands is where the wild is rooted in Jennifer. She was raised by parents who traveled and relocated often, and learned how to adapt and connect with people at a very young age. While visiting and living in these places she learned that cultures are very diverse; connected by plants, creatures, water, environmental impact, food, art, music and love. In 2019 while interning with the Sea Walls Maui project, Jennifer personally experienced the power of public art. She passionately believes that art and activism introduces, educates and brings people together where they live, and with a little interest and curiosity anyone can make a difference in their community.

Jennifer has worked over 20 years in people engagement and community management in the outdoor and surf industry, and 10 years managing the 1% for the Planet retail westeren region grant program at Patagonia. She has had the great privilege to build relationships and support environmental campaigns internationally, home in California, Oregon, Washington and in her beloved Hawaii. She deeply values our home planet and the activists who work to protect it.

For Jennifer, her family is everything and believes that it is so important for her children to learn about the world they live in, barefoot, wild and free. She and her family live in Santa Cruz California and have built a life that revolves around the ocean and the mountains. The spirit of adventure and travel to new places will not fade away.

Alex is committed to a life inspiring others to create positive change, for themselves and the world around them. She earned her Masters degree in chemical ecology from San Diego State University investigating the effects of anthropogenic pollutants on the chemical communication between organisms. She is a strong proponent of unconventional science communication and extending the broader impacts of science to the general public.

Derek is the founder at The Underswell and The Underswell School of Understanding, crafting sustainability talks and online courses to help students and professionals better understand sustainability and social responsibility so they can integrate both into business and life.

Additionally, he developed the Apparel Industry Sustainability Certificate at Orange Coast College and is a co-founder of the brand KOZM; a sustainability-driven, mindfulness-focused, Certified B Corp, lifestyle brand.

Derek’s helped multiple companies, brands, and individuals with their sustainability journey and was the former VP of Sustainability at Volcom. An engineering student turned art student, mid-career Derek went back to school and received his MBA from the Paul Merage School of Business at UC Irvine.

In addition to teaching and consulting, Derek serves on the boards of the UCI Alumni Association, the Orange Coast College Foundation, and PangeaSeed Foundation.

Paul holds a BA in Spanish and a BA in Education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Having worked over 17 years in the Secondary Education sector, he has been serving as a Spanish instructor at Whitewright Independent School District for the past 12 years. As a teacher he is passionate about inspiring his students to become responsible world citizens. Paul is an active volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, a passionate ocean conservationist and lover of the outdoors.

Safiya Sawney is a marine environmental policy consultant and strategist currently acting as the Caribbean Policy Lead for Ocean Unite. Most recently, she was the Ocean and Climate Policy Advisor to the Mission of the Government of the Republic of Palau to the United Nations. She has gained extensive experience working with governmental institutions, UN organizations, and the World Bank, applying her expertise to spur positive environmental change through policy and science.  She also continues to provide grassroots support to community groups in her native island of Grenada and is constantly on the lookout for unique and impactful initiatives that inspire collective action.

After graduating from the School of Visual Arts in New York, Eaton built upon his experience designing toys at the age of 18 for Fisher Price and co-founded the legendary Kid Robot. Later, Eaton founded Thunderdog Studios, where he created original art and design work for major clients like Nike, Universal and luxury watch brand Hublot among many others. His highly sought after style and work ethic in the field continues to inspire confidence in his clients and admiration among his peers while he blurs the lines between commercial and fine art. 

Eaton is perhaps best known for his large scale public murals, found throughout the world from New York to Paris to Shanghai, which he executes in freehand spray paint; a technical and personal nod to his own history and respect for graffiti culture, while honoring traditional painting and muralism with his thoughtful and dynamic subject matter and compositions. 

All of these experiences become touchstones in Eaton’s fine art practice where techniques new and old meet unusual and innovative ideas paired with an assortment of methods and materials both traditional and modern, all of which find a home and harmony in his work. 

Eaton’s work can be seen in the Museum of Modern Art’s (MoMA) permanent collection as well as the Cooper Hewitt Museum and Long Beach Museum of Art, which will host a retrospective of his art career Summer 2020.

Aaron, a New Zealand native, has been part of the PangeaSeed family since the very beginning and has helped shape the creative identity and aesthetic of our organization ever since. In collaboration with other artists, he painted the first-ever Sea Wall in Sri Lanka and laid the foundation of what is today our flagship program. Aaron holds a BFA from Auckland University of Technology.

An influential figure in Bay Area public art, Oakland-based artist Jet Martinez (b. 1973) is known for creating vibrant works of art that engage the traditions of Mexican folk art with contemporary aesthetics. Originally from the small beach town of Tuxpan, Veracruz, Mexico, and raised in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Martinez takes inspiration from his native culture’s rich traditions of pottery, weaving, and embroidery, enlivening the rigid architecture of urban environments with ornate patterns and abstract forms.

A fellow of the Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, CA with his wife, Kelly Ording, Martinez’s work has been exhibited internationally at Joseph Gross Gallery, 111 Minna Gallery, White Walls Gallery, Museo de Arte y Cultura Latino Americana, and Syracuse University, among others. His murals have been commissioned in locales as diverse as Oaxaca, New Orleans, Brazil, and Zurich, and by the San Francisco Arts Commission/San Francisco General Hospital, the cities of Denver, Colorado and San Jose, California, and companies such as Facebook, Hilton, Kiehl’s, John Fluevog and Red Bull.

Martinez served as the director of San Francisco’s acclaimed Clarion Alley Mural Project (CAMP) for ten years from 2004 to 2014. His work with CAMP has been integral to the creation and preservation of public art in the Mission District, a historically Latino neighborhood known as a bastion for underground arts and culture.

Amandalynn is a San Francisco based muralist, fine artist, conservator, and art director.  Inspired by the female form and spirit, she depicts strong, seductive women and illustrates their strength through line work and decorative patterning. Her works can be found in galleries and streets all over the world. In recent years she has been art directing and curating for music and arts festivals. Amandalynn has always enjoyed curating and assisting other artists in their work, making art direction a natural path for her. Fine art also plays a key role in Amandalynn’s life, as she continues to develop her practice as a gallery artist. She holds a BFA from the San Francisco Academy of Art, and believes that sharing the creative process with others is the key to living an inspired life.

Ericka Calvert leverages over 25 years of business operations, strategic planning, and partner alliance development experience. Having lived in New York, Tokyo, and London, she is skilled at building relationships across varying industries, cultures, and countries. She holds a BA from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington

Robyn Duda has worked with some of the most recognized brands in the world including Coca-Cola, Spotify and IBM. She takes pride in creating growth strategies through creative thinking, process implementation, and revenue retention design. Robyn’s diverse background and crisis management skills position her perfectly for creating a well-rounded, sustainable and achievable vision for mid-sized and large companies. Before launching Robyn Duda Creative, Robyn was the VP of Event Strategy & Experience Design at global event giant, UBM (now Informa).

Emilie McGlone is the United Nations liaison and Director of the New York-based office of Peace Boat US, a nonprofit organization working to promote peace, sustainable development, and respect for the environment through educational programs, aboard the Peace Boat. This chartered passenger ship travels the world on peace voyages. Peace Boat holds Special Consultative Status with the Social and Economic Council of the UN and works in partnership with UN representatives, Nobel Peace Laureates, and community leaders from around the world to create opportunities for international cooperation focused on environmental sustainability, cultural awareness, and peace education. Emilie works to foster youth education and develops specific programs to learn about critical global issues onboard the Peace Boat.
